SUMMER PROGRAM 2010 

The DUNAMIS SUMMER PROGRAM 2010 is in full operation and on its 2nd year! We have 12 children this year and they are enjoying themselves everyday going on trips throughout New York City. 

There's never a dull moment. The Coordinator, Summer Program Counselors and Volunteers have as much fun as the children. Stay tuned for the pics we'll be posting in a couple of weeks. 

For more information, call Ms. Yadira Salas, Summer Program Coordinator at 347-591-3781. Registration for next year's program will begin in Late January. This allows parents to make weekly or monthly payments and to ensure that their children are registered before slots are filled!

To World Vision NY- Thank you for the donations, you are essential to our ability to sustain ourselves as a young organization. 

HEALTH PROGRAM 

We have completed our first year of Health Programming under a grant provided by The Institute for Family Health. We trained 20 churches to conduct Fine, Fit & Fabulous, a 12-week exercise and nutrition program, and The God's Health Squad program, an 8 week health and nutrition program developed to reduce obesity and raise diabetes awareness among children and their parents.

We also formed a Youth Workgroup that created a Teen Health Curriculum, still to be named. It is still in draft format but we believe it is going to be instrumental in the lives of youth who want to take control of their health and self-image. We continue to be a member of Bronx Health REACH, a coalition of over 40 churches seeking to reduce the health disparities among minorities in the Bronx.  

MARRIAGES OF EXCELLENCE PROGRAM 

This year we worked on Program Development for our Marriages of Excellence program. We conducted couples counseling for several couples and we have a great story for you. It will make you sad but most importantly it will give you hope for your marriage regardless of what you are going through! STAY TUNED! 

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Metropolitan Council for Jewish Poverty for their generous grant allowing us to continue building the capacity of our organization to provide this most important program. Thank you Met Council! 

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM 

This September we will begin recruitment for our After School program. We believe that this is a vital support for working families. Parents who know that their children are in a safe place after school can go about their work day with less stress. We will provide homework help, tutoring, recreational activities, and a healthy snack. For more information give Mrs. Lydia Sierra a call at 347-591-3780.  

EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

You would not believe the amount of people who come through our doors asking for employment assistance. These are critical times for most families. We are currently seeking a JOB DEVELOPER VOLUNTEER or INTERN as this task has become too much for the Director who has other responsibilities. We will provide training, but the person must be computer literate. August 2009

This month begins our efforts towards raising $50,000 in discretionary funds. Discretionary funding allows us to use funds for items that grants do not allow us to. We have many goals...
 1.We need to purchase a license for our new television station called The New Generation or La Nueva Generacion.  This license costs $10,000.
2. We need to purchase new lenses for our cameras.
3. We need to pay various administrative costs.
4. We need to enhance our programs and services to meet the needs of the families we serve.

JUNE 2009

We are so thankful to The Institute for Urban Health and Bronx Health Reach for awarding us a grant of $50,000 to train leaders of the Spanish church to develop Health Ministries in their churches. We have recently trained leaders of over 14 churches in the Bronx to implement an evidence-based 12-week curriculum called Fine, Fit & Fabulous to reduce obesity and prevent diabetes within the Hispanic community. Our 12-week Fine, Fit & Fabulous program will begin in June. Call Isabel Maldonado at 347-591-3781 for sign up class size is limited.

Fine, Fit & Fabulous is a 12-week exercise and nutrition program guaranteed to help you lose weight and learn healthy habits for healthier living.

In addition, we are piloting an 8-week program called God's Health Squad to the children of Jehovah Shammah International Ministry also geared towards teaching them to take care of their bodies because they are temples of the Holy Spirit. When classes are over we will provide you with feedback from the children and the trainers. The goal of this curriculum is to reduce obesity and chronic diseases among children. Today children are suffering from diseases that once only affected adults. We can change this trend. For more information call: 347-591-3780.

MARCH 2009 

Thank you for visiting our site! Jehovah Shammah International Ministry has developed a social service arm of the church. The agency is Jehovah Shammah Family Institute, Inc. and we were recently incorporated in 2007 for the purpose of strengthening marriages and developing Families of Excellence.

We are very excited to have expanded our ability to reach out to The Bronx community and to New York City families. We believe that New York families need supportive services that will strengthen marriages and provide parenting skills, financial literacy, career growth, and much more during these difficult times.

We are grateful to the many supporters who have made this expansion of our ministry possible. Jehovah Shammah International Ministry is a church full of people who have a heart to serve and through this social service arm we are looking forward to opening our arms to individuals and families in need. We are very excited as we anticipate meeting the service needs in The Bronx community and City-wide.
